Expertise Group Background

During my time working at Expertise Group in Bermuda, I had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most prominent global and local finance and reinsurance firms. These tier-one and tier-two clients included top names like RenaissanceRe, MontpelierRe, Tokio Millennium, MUFG, MS Amlin, Hiscox, KPMG, and Deloitte. My responsibility was to place executives and highly skilled professionals in roles critical to their financial operations and growth.

Challenges

The firms I worked with were globally recognized, and they expected top tier executive and specialized talent. However, they faced several challenges in sourcing candidates who not only met the stringent technical and leadership requirements but also aligned with the company’s cultural values. Additionally, many of these firms were navigating structural changes, entering new markets, or realigning their risk management strategies, adding further complexity to their hiring needs. Key challenges included: Highly Specialized Roles: Many positions, such as underwriters and risk managers, required deep technical knowledge of reinsurance, complex financial products, and the global market. 

Our Approach

I started each engagement with an in-depth consultation with the client to fully understand the technical and leadership requirements for each role. For each role, I designed a 13-step drip campaign, targeting candidates via LinkedIn, emails, and texts. This approach allowed me to reach top-tier talent in both local and international markets. I dedicated considerable time to sourcing for each role, using Boolean search techniques to identify candidates with niche expertise in reinsurance or finance.  To ensure each candidate was a strong cultural fit in addition to being technically qualified, I conducted psychometric and technical testing for each role.

The Outcome

Over my time with Expertise Group, I successfully placed multiple high-level roles for tier-one clients in the finance and reinsurance industries. I placed VPs, managers, and individual contributors in key roles such as Accounting, Underwriters, Risk Managers, Finance Directors, and General Counsel, ensuring that these firms had the leadership and expertise needed to drive their business forward. By leveraging powered automation and tools, I was able to reduce the time-to-hire to 8-12 weeks for critical roles. My precision-driven process improved candidate quality, ensuring that every individual placed was both technically proficient and culturally aligned with the client’s values.
